  • We recently moved to Plantation and started looking for a congregational school for our kids. I called Ramat Shalom and the executive director spoke to me for close to an hour about the synagogue, the school, the community, etc with total warmth and sincerity. Later that day, Rabbi Jacobs called me to welcome us to the community. We had a lengthy conversation too. And again, I felt a genuine desire to make my family feel comfortable and welcomed in the community regardless of where we ended up making our spiritual home.

Rabbi Jacobs invited me to bring my son to the congregational school to give it a try. That weekend I attended services and my son went to Sunday school. We joined the synagogue the following day.

Ramat shalom is one of the most authentic synagogues I have ever experienced. There are no fancy sculptures or decked out lobbies -- just real people coming together to express their spirituality and solidarity with our local Jewish community and those around the world including, of course, Israel.

Rabbi Jacobs never asked me for a penny. Like any good Jewish professional, his focus is on creating long term relationships. And I am confident that we are embarking on one of the most meaningful and priceless Jewish experiences we have ever had.

  • Almost five years ago, I moved to the West Broward area and joined Ramat Shalom. I found it to be very warm, welcoming and relevant. One of the main reasons for this feeling was the way Rabbi Andrew Jacobs treats the congregants like family. Thank you very much Rabbi Andrew!

  • Very welcoming synagogue. As a gay man married to a non-Jew, they have been nothing but kind, welcoming, and encouraging. We look forward to going to Shabbat services every week.

  • Words that can best describe Ramat Shalom are warm, welcoming, spiritual, and comfortable, even social. I have the privilege of being a member of this special place for 4 years and can truly say I have found my Jewish home. Rabbi Andrew is committed to making services a learning, spiritual, thought provoking and enlightening experience and I never have that "I need to leave" feeling as I did at a prior synagogue in my life. For me that is a huge accomplishment and gives a true picture of how engaging Rabbi Andrew and Cantor Debbie are. What is most appealing is how Rabbi is able to relate to the diverse age group Ramat serves and to see the members truly enjoy each other and all get along whether at services or social events. Rabbi Andrew is an active Rabbi attending every event, which he looks like he actually enjoys and participating with his congregants. He is available 24/7 for all for the good and the bad. On another note, I never thought I would ever learn or could learn Hebrew but this summer I attended adult Hebrew classes with Cantor Debbie and I learned. Her dedication to the kids and seniors is amazing too. In general all programming at Ramat is first rate!! Thanks Rabbi Andrew, Cantor Debbie and staff for making Ramat a place I want to go!
